WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS THIS MY POWER STEERING PUMP IS STARTING TO WHINE WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FLUID LEVEL IS GOOD THE BELT IS TIGHT AND THE WHINING DOES NOT EFFECT THE STEERING I JUST DO NOT LIKE HEARING THE WHINING AT TIMES. WHATS UP? AND I NOTICED THAT ON MY PUMP THAT THERE IS A SMALL COVER ON IT AND BEHIND IT IS A SPRING AND A NUT WHAT IS THIS? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. JERRY

Hi JERRY,

When whining noise is emitted, there are 2 possibilities:
1. Pump faulty due to worn bushes internally.
2. High pressure hose faulty. It has a valve internally whch could have got dislodged from its original position.

The nut is the pressure control valve.
