I just replaced the axle to repair a noise cv joint and now the clutch makes noise when in neutral. I think there must be a connection but don't know the solution. I have replaced the oil drained from the transmission but the noise persists. Could this problem with the clutch be caused by the axle replacement? If so, what might be the cure.

Hi there,

Does the noise go away with your foot on the clutch, and can you feel any vibration through the clutch pedal?

Yes, the noise does stop when the clutch is depressed.

Hi there,

I feel that this is a clutch thrust bearing and it will have no connection to the drive shaft work, the box will have to come out to do this.
