I need to know the exact location of the AC expansion valve on my 1988 Honda Accord LXi model. I have a repair manual which does not show anything regarding the AC system. The engine is fuel injected with an automatic transmission. I know it is located in the housing under the dash. Can it be removed without pulling the complete housing down? Could there be a possibility of cutting into the blower housing to reach it and then reseal the cut out? I know the valve is bad because of pressure readings. Any help will be sincerely appreciated.

Hi billgrego,

You need to discharge the AC system and remove the evaporator to replace the expansion valve. No two way about it.

No need to remove the dash though.
