1998 Holden Astra very noisy tapping noise

I just brought a astra, it has a loud tapping noise that doesnt go away, the owner told me its a sticky lifter and he put some fluid in it so it should come unstuck at around 5000ks more!Im not convinced can any1 help me?

Hi there,

This will more than likely be a faulty lash adjuster, you may have some success with an engine flush, but to do the job correctly they should be replaced.
