I just bought this car (GT model) runs great but has high rpm's in gear. Not so much where the rpm's are going up and my speed is not that is fine my clutch was replaced about two years ago. The issue I am having is I run through the gears like nobody's business. I am in third gear at 35 mph is that normal for this car? This is also the first manual I have owned.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros. Com.

As far as the speed vs gear, that does not sound out of the ordinary. When you are in third gear and going 35, how many RPM's is the engine running at?

Let me know.

Joe

Okay. At 35 mph in third my rpm's are about at 2,500 to 3,000. I will do a video when I get off work and post it to see. Maybe it is my inexperience with manual cars.

Hi, that does seem a bit high as far as the rpm. However, I have a six speed in my truck and just tested it and it is really close. At 35 mph, I was at 2200. When you are at highway speed (60 mph) and in the highest gear, you should be around 2,000 rpm. Is that what you are experiencing?
