The car listed above is an LX model, 6-speed manual transmission. In the 2015 it was directly behind the glove box. Cannot seem to locate this one and need to unplug it for medical reasons. Honda Service charges $169.00 for this.

It looks like it is behind the radio head unit or interrogated into it. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hi,
Thanks for this. However, from my experience with the 2015 Honda Civic, even though the HFL Bluetooth worked through the steering wheel, and the Head Unit, there was a separate Bluetooth Module Unit in the glove box area about 2x4" long that I was able to just unplug. If I can't find it, will I have to go to Honda Service Tuesday and pay them to do it? I only found the 2015 Civic from a YouTube video by a mechanic that showed how to do it in 2 minutes :o) If you find anything else, or I do before then, please let me know. Thanks for your help!

Here is information on the Bluetooth and I have included the radio and HFL wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works.

HandsFreeLink System Description - Overview
The HandsFreeLink (R) (HFL) automatically connects (pairs) to a linked phone when the vehicle is in the ACCESSORY or ON mode. The HFL also synchronizes with the paired cell phone's phone book to automatically update any changes. Depending on the functions of the cell phone, the automatic update may not work.

HandsFreeLink Control Unit
The audio unit or the audio-navigation unit builds in the HFL circuit, HFL microphone *1, and the Bluetooth transceiver. The HFL switch *2 controls the HFL function using the hard wire.

*1: With display audio or normal audio
*2: With display audio or color audio

General Operation
The HFL switch on the steering wheel is used to answer incoming calls, to make outgoing calls, or to end a call. The signal is sent to the audio unit or the audio-navigation unit.

The microphone picks up the driver's voice, and sends the signal to the audio unit or the audio-navigation unit. The signal is then sent from the Bluetooth transceiver to the cell phone.

The caller's voice signal is sent from the cell phone to the Bluetooth transceiver. The audio unit or the audio-navigation unit outputs the voice signal through the front door speakers.

Muting Logic
When you are talking on the mobile phone using the HFL system, the front speakers provide the HFL sound and the rear speakers are muted.

Fan Mute Operation (With Climate Control)
When the voice recognition is in use, the audio-navigation unit sends the fan mute signal to the climate control unit via the B-CAN. The blower fan operating voltage may be reduced depending on the current fan speed.

Voice Tag Function (With Display Audio)
The audio unit can save voice tag to memory for making a call by voice recognition possible. The voice tag saved at the audio unit is related with Speed Dial.

Short Message Service (With Display Audio)
The audio unit or the audio-navigation unit processes the short message service (SMS) data sent from the cell phone. The text message information is displayed on the display.

Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hi Ken,

Thank you for the information and your reply. I took the car into the Honda Service for unplugging of the Bluetooth Module which they assured me could be done for $169 before I purchased the car. Turns out it cannot be done by them and is built into the head unit in this model. So, I have been keeping the radio turned off, and without music to avoid cancer pain caused by the wireless.

So, I have had to locate one of only two head units without Bluetooth still available for around $120 through www. Crutchfield. Com (Pioneer DEH S1200UB; and the discontinued Kenwood KD-R490 through Amazon with the kit through Crutchfield. I will lose my radio settings, backup camera and Hands-Free Link, but I will not have wireless emitting in the car that causes me cancer pain.
It can be installed for around $00 by Geek Squad, or I got a quote for $800 from a local installer. There are also wired/plugged only backup camera monitors available on Amazon for around $39 I am told. Fortunately, a friend of mine is going to do this for me. Hope this helps someone else with medical issues!
