Engine squealing is usually caused by a slipping belt. To see if this is your issue you can spray the belt or belts with WD-40. When doing this make sure you spray the under side of the belt with the groves on it. Not the flat side. And be very careful not to get your hands caught in any moving parts.
Simply start the motor and spray the under side of the belt as it comes into one of the upper pulleys on the motor. You can usually stay about 6 to 8 inches away so you don't get hurt. If this is your issue the squealing will stop until the WD-40 dries up then it will start again.
If there is more than one belt, spray one at a time and change the one that stops squealing when sprayed.
