The heater core was replaced under warranty, and the right hand side of ventilation on the bottom and defroster come out cold, also the middle of the dash where the A/C comes out and on the drivers side is completely hot. I want to know if the blend doors motors can be bad without a code to set in the computers?

Hello,

Yes they can be bad without setting code. Did the problem start right after you got the car back? It sounds like they may have missed a ground wire. Here are the locations for the blend doors and the air conditioner wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works. I would check the fuses for the system as well.

Check you these guides to give you an idea of what you are in for when doing the repair.

Here are the fuse panel locations and identifications. Please let us know what you find.

We are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

This message is for ken, I thank you for this reply, you sent me pictures, the first one is the complete assembly, i'm sure this assembly is the same for most of these vw cars, I have a tdi and, I just got this heater done under the warranty, I went back 3 or 4 times and tried to show them the problem, maybe this vw dealer is not aware of this, would you know of a dealer in new york who can look at this, I 'm kind of scrared to open this up, its only the right side not the left, i've worked on cars before and I know what I should do , now my next question on the right hand side of the console, if I remove the panel is the motor 4 and 5 are they where I can see them, and can they have connected the wires wrong, do the motors have the same connector.

I believe you can see them but you should remove the glove box door first to see one of them the other two should be by the gas pedal. I would use a flashlight to see if the actuators are plugged in because I think they missed one or they forgot a system ground. It might take removing pieces to see the connectors if you have a small mirror on a stick this can help see around

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

The grounds are generally connected near the dash anchor bolts.

Here is what happened, when the car was build they install the dash in, the defrost vent tubing is on the underside of the top of the dashboard, so when either the company or the dealer put back the dash together they tweeked the gasket and the round tubing that connects the defroster tube. So the air is weakened when it comes out, it is like piercing a hole into a water hose and expecting the end to have the same pressure at the end of it, when the garage that I went to they looked under the dash and the gasket was inside the tube, so when I put the fan on the drivers seat became cold from the outside air and the top of the dashboard I could feel the cold air, the garage also told me that the dealer should of never dismantled the dash to remove the heater core, that is what the dealers, anyone, also when I either took a left or right turn there was a breeze of cold air from this tube, I was mistaken when I mentioned the motors there still could be a new problem but I will only find out next year when it will be cold , those were the symptoms it had, whomever wants their car fixed they need to take it to a specialty shop who only does vw,
this shop went under the dash to see, and that's what they found, they had to use a prybar and they put in a piece of wood to close this gap because they remove this weatherstrip, i've heard that a lot of tdi owners have had at some point a problem with the heat, it take's someone to look under there, because when they put the dash in they always tweek this gasket and tube.
