Sure, this can happen when the engine coolant level gets low because the heater core is the first thing to run low. When the engine is cold, please remove the radiator cap to check the level.

Also, can you confirm the year of the car? 2017? Here is a guide that can help as well, you may have a clogged heater core which I would remove the heater hoses and use a garden hose to help flush the core out.
