Headlights will not switch on, but flash when alarm is activate. Mercedes 300e

I replaced the fuses and the bulbs must be good but the headlights will not go on when I turn on the switch. If I leave a door open slightly them use key to lock via driver door then you try to open door the headlights flash. ( Sets off alarm). There seems to be 2 fuse boxes is one for the alarm, and could that be the problem. Or am I looking at a big electrical issue.

You need to determine if you've got power to the headlight switch, and then if its coming out. A simple test light will do this. While youre at it id check ALL the fuses. German cars tend to run circuits in conjuction with others.

Running lights work with switch but headlights will not go on with switch. Already changed the fuses for the headlights. I would assume the bulbs are working since they flash on and off when the alarm is triggered. Any other advice.

The headlights do work, youre right there. Im sending a diagram I found. Tell me if it helps isolate the circuit. Im leaning towards a bad headlight switch myself
