Welcome to 2CarPros. The primary grounds are from the battery to the block, then from the battery to the body. There should also be a strap from the engine to the body. The rest of the grounds are spread throughout the van close to each component as the body of the van is used as the ground return. Is there a particular item or items you are having a problem with?

I seem to be losing ground to the transmission, it is causing it to slip and causing it to eject transmission fluid and also the engine seems to be running too high and and I feel like the alternator also has something to do with all this. I have already put a rebuilt transmission in and replaced the alternator once already. Also it has ran hot a few times. I feel like all of this runs together. Just want my van running good for a change. I love it! Any advice is appreciated.

There isn't much in that transmission that's electronic. Just the torque converter clutch. It either locks or doesn't. The transmission grounds through the engine block and the ground for it is located on the back of the passenger side head. However you can add a ground if you wish. I doubt it's the alternator causing an issue as you would see other problems with electronics. However saying that the engine has run hot before is a clue. If it is running hotter than normal the transmission cooler in the radiator could be heating the fluid up and causing it to push out. First thing would be to check the fluid level and quality. You want nice red fluid at the correct level. Next thing would be to test for a bad head gasket, failed thermostat or a plugged radiator or bad fan.

Haven't talked to you in awhile I'm still trying to get my old van going. Is it possible for two transmissions to go bad within six months of each other? What is connected to them that could make them both go bad?
