A few weeks back I noticed my car was making a kind of grinding noise while driving. It doesn't do it all the time and I can't seem to find any sort of pattern to it. Generally it happens whilst I'm driving normally around 20 mph or so but can happen whilst going slower/faster. Sometimes it won't do it at all as far as I can tell. You can hear it over the wind in the video. It starts at about 3/4 seconds and then is intermittent throughout. You can hear the noise inside the car and it gets louder when you open a window. It sounds as if it's coming from the front passenger side.

I've checked for anything loose under that car and I can't see anything. My first thought was possibly a wheel bearing or something around that area. I jacked the car up and gave the wheel a wobble and checked everything around there and can't notice anything obvious. I don't want to bother with changing the bearing if it isn't that. Any help would be great.
I'm a mechanical engineer so I'm pretty good with hands on stuff but cars aren't my area of expertise.
Thank you!

That higher pitch grinding sounds like a brake pad worn down. A wheel bearing will usually be a deeper more aggressive sound.

Hi, thank you for the response. I haven't noticed the noise while I have been braking. It's more whilst accelerating/coasting. Would the brake pads still be a potential cause if I'm not actually braking at the time?

Pull that front tire off and see if you can find some rust build up and check your brake pads. From the video it sounds like something scraping the backing plate behind the rotor. I think if you take the tire off you'll be able to find the problem pretty easy. Hope this helps some what.
