Hello to all: I left the key in the ACC. Mode on my diesel truck and the batteries died, I got a jump start but when I got home I noticed one of the batteries was boiling over and hissing (Out of water?)I threw a charge on it and it seemed to take it, but after a20 min. Trip it still started to cook.

This is an AC Delco maintenance free battery and My questions are:
1 is the battery shot?
2 can distilled water be added to a maintenance free battery/I tried prying the cover off but it was on pretty tight.

Hi there,

I feel that yo have two problems,

1. The alternator may be over charging due to a faulty voltage regulator, have the charge rate checked.

2. The battery may have a collapsed cell, get it load tested as this is the only correct test for battery condition.
