Check the fuel pressure when the problem is happening. Check with the key on engine (koeo) on when the problem is present. Pressure HAS to be at least 61 psi, nothing less. IF it is, get a pump and and replace the elctrical connector to the pump.
Also, Check the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator, if there is fuel in it, replace it. This is probably the questionable part as your smelling raw fuel.
