My Safari keeps blowing the brake fuse. When it goes out the ABS, Low Fuel and Battery lights come on and the marker for the gear shift goes out. Also the temperature gauge does not work when this fuse blows. My question is what is making the fuse blow?

Does it blow quickly? If this is an intermittent issue, if it takes a long time for the fuse to blow, can be hard to track. Does it blow without touching the brake pedal?

The fuses do blow rather quickly and not necessarily when stepping on the brake. I noticed some new things today. My reverse lights do not work. Also, my interior light works when it wants to. Example, this morning when I hit the unlock button on the key, the light should come on, it didn't. But when I got to work, when I shut the van off, it did, like it was supposed to. Tonight once again it didn't until I locked the van. Is there a relay or circuit breaker that could be going bad? Or is it possibly a wiring issue?

You could use a testlite in place of the brake fuse, just for testing, if the lite comes on, the circuit is going to ground. If it is going straight to ground, no resistance, it will blow the fuse. If the lite comes on, unplug the brake switch, see if it makes any difference.

What was the resolution? I had the exact same symptoms, replacing the brake fuse fixed it (for the moment, anyway).

Intermittent issues can be a pain, you have to test when the problem is ongoing.

If you make your own new post, a lot of people will see the post. You should make a new post.

If the persons name is highlited, you can click on the name and send them a private e-mail.

If their name is highlited, you click on the name. If you can't click on their name, you can't send them a private email. The email address isn't given out. It's a link that says, "send private email".

Never mind, I'll send him one.
