let me describe this noise......

its a whinning noise that comes from back of engine and revs up in volume when I give the engine gas whether in gear or not.

What do you think it is?

Power steering pump maybe. You can put a screwdriver to parts of the engine and to your ear to localize the noise...just don't catch it on any belts...
