Hello, don't know if you are aware that you have to "program" the remote when you take the battery out. If it's not any different between a couple of years of age you should be able to do this.
Stand a couple of feet away from the drivers side and then press and hold down both lock and unlock buttons on remote until the locks start to cycle, (locking and unlocking themselves). You should be good to go after this. If it is a new fob you have to have the dealer program it to your vehicle. Hope this helps you out-or in, whichever the case may be! 8)
