Car won't Move

I have a 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier. It has around 80,000 miles on it. It was working fine the other day and then I came to a stop sign and when I went to take off the car would not move. The engine revved up like it wanted to go but it didn't. We tried changing gears but it would still not move. I have had the transmission checked out and everything seems to be alright with that so I was wondering if you had any ideas on what else it could be. Thank you,

Is it an auto or stick trans. Quicker and better answers with more info.

Just like vandragon said. But i'll tell you something try pushing it down hill and jump in and coast your way to where ever you need to go. Couse without any more info I don't know.
