I recently replaced the power brake booster in my 1996 GMC Jimmy and now the front brakes feel like they are constantly engaged, they sound like metal rubbing together and smell after driving the car. The steering wheel shakes and it feels like I have a flat tire. I greased the caliper pistons and replaced the brake pads 3 days ago and the pads already need to be replaced. Any suggestions? The car has 147,400 miles on it. Oh and the parking brake light is always on.

You might want to check and see if perhaps the parking brake is just slightly engaged. The release might seem like it's off but check the cables running to the wheels themselves. Also might want to pull a wheel and check the action down there on the cable. It's possible that it's sticking and just barely engaged. Had this happen on girlfriends 97 ford and cost us $1000 to redo system. But definetly find your problem before driving much or you could have the same situation. Hate to see that happen! Good luck 8)
