1999 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

Hello,

My 1999 GMC Jimmy stalls out at least one time a month for the past 4-5 months. It starts out as running sluggish the it will have 2 short backfires and then completely shuts down (It will fire back out the following day). I replaced the fuel pump and filter and also the crank shaft sensor. The problem still exsists. Any Suggestions?

Can you check trouble codes, some of the national brand auto stores will check po codes for free. Can you check fuel pressure? You need a gage for that. When it refuses to start, have you done any basic tests? You know, have a helper crank it, while you check for spark at the plugs. If you have good spark everywhere, great.

When the problem occurs, have you tried unplugging the cam sensor, then see if it will start?
