Usually when a waterpump goes bad, either it will leak coolant from the seap hole, or there will be play in the bearing itself. If you remove the serp belt, check to see if there is any side to side / up and down play from the pulley (which is attached to the pump). Also, with the belt off, check all of the accessories. Spin the alt, waterpump, PS pump. To see if there is any noise. Also, start the engine with the belt off to see if the noise is gone. NOTE: Only allow the engine to run for a few seconds because it will overheat very fast.
Let me know what you find.
