I was backing up a hill in a driveway when there was a very loud pop & clunk that shook the vehicle. It immediately stop pulling and had a loud whining sound. It rolled forward down the hill. I tried to go forward and backward but nothing except a lot of whining noise. In park it still rolls and the noise is a little quieter. It sounds like the transmission making the noise. I am debating on weather it would be worth fixing it with 170000 miles. the engine runs great and does not use oil and the rest of the car still looks great. Any suggestions?

it's worth it to get the trans rebuilt or get one from a junkyard. If it's rebuilt they will chrge anywhere from 1500-1800 and a junkyard one would be cheaper with no warranty plus you or someone would have to install it . From your description it sounds as if you have done significant damage to this .
