Glow plug light in the dash is not lit?

1995 GMC C3500 6 litre diesel Engine. Four Wheel Drive Automatic 130000 miles

My truck is manned with a hydraulic snow plow shovel. I used the truck yesterday. It works very well. This morning I hop in, I turn the ignition key to on to power the glow plugs before starting the truck and I notice that the glow plug light in the dash is not lit. The vehicle turns but does not start. Could it be a loose wire? Is this connected to a fuse? Is this connected to an electronic control? What do I or can I check before calling garage to have it towed for repair?

Hi there,

Check if there is power at the glow plus with a test light. If no power check main glow fuse, it sound like a fuse problem just now.

This happens when the glow plugs need to be replaced and the glow plug controller. What happens is the glow plugs wear out and go to a high resistance which takes out the glow plug controller. Here is the location of the controller and how to replace the glow plugs as well. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes
