1995 Geo Metro

My friend has a 1995 geo metro hatchback with 130,000 kms. Its a little 3cyl engine, when we put her transmission into drive the car drives great shifts great, when you go to put it in reverse the car wont engage the gear, sometimes it will engage but for the most part it wont. Whats wrong with it? Any suggestions?

You may have a synchro issue with the reverse gear. If the teeth on the gears are severly worn then the gear will no hold. This will be something that will need to be properly diagnosed to fix.
