Gas cap leak indication

With low gas level indicator came on. Filled tank. Indicator off. Is this possible?

Hi,

Yes. The gas cap leak indicator is indicating a small evap leak. This is normally caused by the gas cap being off but it could be a leak somewhere else in the system. What happens is this is called a 2 trip failure code. That means the issue needs to happen two times in a row and the light will turn on. It is then a 4 trip to pass indicator. That means it needs to have 4 trips in a row with out the issue happening again in order to turn the light out.

More than likely it was a coincidence that it turned off when the tank was filled. However, if this happens every time you get a low fuel level and then turns off when you fill the tank then you may have a sensor issue with the evap system.
