Sometimes the RPMs will start to fluctuate while the transmission is in park, then the car will start to shake and eventually shut off?

Sometimes the RPMs will start to fluctuate while in park, then the car will start to shake and eventually shut off. If the gas is pressed while this is happening the RPMs do not change other than the odd fluctuation. After that sometimes it will have trouble turning over and other times it will start back up as normal and allow you to drive as normal. The check engine light only came on tonight and this has been happening intermittently over maybe 2 months, although the car is not driven a lot, it is driven daily for short commutes.

Yep, this sounds like the fuel pressure sensor is going out, but we should run the codes to see which ones are stored, this guide can help:

Here is the location of the fuel pressure sensor in case a code comes up for it. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.

My reader gave me P0087 fuel rail/system pressure too low and to replace fuel pump. The second possible fix showed as replace fuel pressure sensor. I will try the sensor first and go from there.

Yep, I would do the sensor first as well, usually the pumps will not go out at 90k, let me know how it goes.

Just a final update, hopefully. It seems to have been the high pressure fuel pump.

That is a little premature, but it happens. Here is how to replace the high-pressure pump in case you need it or want to see how the job is done. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.
