About 3 weeks ago the tranny overheated smelt horrible. Because I couldn't find a reason for it I had the oil changedand a new filter put in. The next day all the oil leaked out on the drive way and it had to be towed back to the mechanic to be fixed. Since the first oil change on the tranny the o/d light stays flashing as soon as the car warms up. And the info screen says check tranny. There is a small loose vibrating noise during acceleration, and today it overheated again on a 45 mi trip. If you turn the engine off it buys you a short respite. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about this. I cannot answer your specific question as to why the tranny is overheating, but there are some very basic steps which can and need to be taken. The first is, did you communicate to the shop that the trans was overheating? Why did the tranny fluid dump on your driveway? You need a very competent independent repair or transmission specialist shop. The trans light on means there are stored codes that will help in diagnosis. Find the right shop for this problem--it's a complex system demanding good techs with proper equipment. Good Luck!

Thank you for your response, I did tell them about the over heating and I think the dump was there fault. No charge to fix it. Checking the codes is the next step but "my" tech said it would stay on.(The o/d light) till I took it to the dealer to reset
