Hi there,

It could depend on where the piston failed, can you post a pic? Is there damage on the crown? has a skirt failed? different things can cause a piston failure. it may have been just the increased pressure in the cylinder as just to much for the old piston, if it has failed around a ring land, i would be suspecting this.
