when I crank my van in can not turn it back off the rod in the stearing collum has broke in 2 how do I remove it?

The steering column will need taken apart. Does it have an air bag?

Make sure to disconnect the battery at least 15 minutes before starting work. Static electricity can deploy the air bag if it has power.
