Are magnesium alloy tie rods used as standard equipment on the 2002 Ford Taurus SE?

The right tie rod snapped during a collision impacting the right front wheel. I was told that tie rods are more likely to snap than bend in later models cars because of their magnesium composition. I'm just trying to verify that information.

Thanks,
Ken

Yeah, even the spindles are an alloy of some sort. It's about weight reduction for better fuel economy. The stud on the tie rod is definitly an alloy, and I think the body of it is too, but not 100%.
