2008 Ford Taurus engine hesitates

Vehicle hesitates @ 60mph & shifts hard. What could the problem be?

Torque Converter. Check the transmission fluid for the proper level and color. Redish, brown is ok. Milky, grey or black is bad. Ford has never designed the transmissions for those vehicles properly; they are very weak and have a shotty design (aluminum and very high heat). Obviously since you are still well within the warranty just take it back to Ford for service.
