What will cause rpms to be off? For example: my rpms are RPM x 1000, at 1000 to 2000 my car would be going to 2nd gear and the rpms would drop down to 1000 and will continue to go back up to 2000, but ever since saturday from 2000 to 3000rpms my car is going to 2nd gear and the rpms would drop down to 2000. What would be the cause of that?

Do you have check engine light on if so get the codes
check for vacuum leak
check PCV valve line
suspect idle air control valve
