I am having problems locating the speed sensor on my 1999 Ford taurus. Can you help?

Your vehicle speed sensor is located on the TOP of the transmission on the SMALL end over near where the right axle enters the transmission case. It is in a difficult spot. There is also another speed sensor located on the chain cover just above where the left axle enters the transmission.
