I recently had my transmission rebuilt because it was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd and would slip going into overdrive. Now I have a Torque Converter code that comes on every 30 or 40 miles. I can reset the code, but the CEL comes back on with the same code. ???

Okay, this code is normally caused by faulty or loose wiring to the torque converter clutch solenoid on the transaxle. Inspect the wiring harness at the transaxle to ensure it is connected properly and free of damage.

Thanks. I'll see if I can track it down. I have discovered something else by accident. If I let up on the gas and slip it into neutral, at highway speed, the engine will go up to about 3000 rpm for about 20 or 30 seconds. Then it will slowly fall. It does the same at slower speeds, but the rpm's are lower. Could these be related? Thanks again. I think this will be my last Taurus.

Yes, most likely it is due to the TCC solenoid as well, however..I don't recommend switching into Neutral at such high speeds. It is very unsafe and also hard on the tranny.

Putting the transmission in neutral at highway speed was an accident. It's not a habit. Can you give me an idea of where I should be looking for the wiring connections? I just had the transmission serviced so I don't think it's the converter.

The TCC solenoid is on the side of the transaxle.
