Earlier this week the battery light popped up on the dash. A day later the car died, not so suprising. I started with replacing the battery. After about 40 miles on the new battery the card died again. Next step was to replace the alternator. After charging the "new" battery for a bit the car starts fine but dies after a few minutes. The battery light on the dash is still appearing. So I take the old and new alternator into a parts store to get them both tested. The old fails while the new passes.
My questions... At this point, what might cause the check battery light to stay on? Does the battery need a full charge in order to stay ahead of the new alternator or should the new alternator be able to keep the battery charged even if it is low? What else might I need to run through?
Thanks for any next step advice you can provide.
