THIS VEHICLE HAS A NEW CONTROL MODULE, FUEL PUMP PLUGS ETC. I HAVE JUST REPLACED THE COMPRESSOR WAS DRIVING IT AS IT HAD BEEN SITTING IDLE FOR APPROX. 6 MONTHS. WAS AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE JUST QUIT, I WENT TO THE START POSITION WITH THE IGNITION AND IT STARTED RUNNING AGAIN FOR 2 SECONDS THEN QUIT, THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE ALL THE TIME. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE ANd tried to start, nothing acted like the battery was low. 10 minutes later It started fine and I drove it for 1 mile before it did the same thing. Now it wiil not turn over but the battery checks good 11.6 volts I'm lost

Beleive it or not, 11.6 volts may not start your car, if the batterry is on the high side of its lifespan, it;s cold cranking amps and the alternator may be gone, on Fords when the alternator dies, so will the car, and it may give one quick Battery light, and it may not! I will tell you if you change the batterry and dont check the alternator, you will run into the same thing, test alternator with a know good and fully charged battery.

DO NOT leave a weak battery in it with a new alternator as alternator death can occur!
