1992 Taurus heater

Hi folks thought i'd try this board. I just got a taurus and the heater does not blow hot air. I put a themostat in and blew air thru core lines. It was not dirty. The fan work and the flaps all open and close. It has air but I know it is out of freon. Why no hot air? I'll make the donation of $20.00 if your answer is the fix. I'm stupped.

First you don't blow air thru the core to clean it, you use water. Hook up the garden hose directly to the core and let it run. Heater cores in these cars are a big problem. While your at it check the thermostat too, and the coolant condition.
