I changed the tire that's not the problem. My drum seems loose or something or the tire rod. Some say I need a drum assembly. I know my car shakes at around 40 mph. is it still dangerous to drive? It shakes on the driver side. thank you. 'driving afraid'

Hi Lady,

Shaking is normally a tire or suspension issue but do you feel it in the steering wheel? I am assuming you don't which is why you are able to say it is the left side. Plus when you say you need a drum, I am thinking you narrowed it down to the rear wheel. If this is all true then a loose drum is not going to cause a shaking unless it is only when you press the brake but you didn't say that.

This is most likely a suspension component so we just need to check each.

I suspect this could be a shock in the rear or a bushing. However, the way to figure it out is to lift the car with a jack and inspect the components for looseness. Also, just because you replaced the tire doesn't mean it is not the wheel so we need to swap the tires from side to side and see if the vibration moves with it.

Let me know if I am missing something and we can go from there. Thanks
