After starting, engine runs ok for a minute, and then falls flat. Exaust manifold gets red hot, but moter doesn't seem too.I've changed the fuel filter, oxegen sensor, plugs, and although not recomended, bypassed the cadyletic converter.(Note) Fuel filter was very dirty. Problem has existed before any changes were made, and still does. :

Is your check engine light on? Did you replace both 02 sensors or just the one? Which one did you replace?

Something in there is making the PCM go haywire and make your engine run way too rich causing your manifold to get that hot. -Op-

Brain fart.I screwed upon the year of the truck. Its a 1987 Ford ranger, with a 2.0 liter, fuel injected.I haven't checked out my exaust system yet, but will first thing. The sensor I installed was at the manifold. From what I understand its supposed to have a (single wire)sensor. The parts house gsve me a sensor with "3" wires and a female plug, which plugged rite in. Chiltons identifies it as a NONHEAT sensor. Can that be a factor?Oh yeah. Thankx for responding to my problem. Been trying to isolate it for last 3 weeks, and walking to work with all my tools is getting old.
