My 2.3 engined Ranger has about 140,000 miles and recently my wife rear-ended someone in it. The front end damage was mild, but I believe that there was a great amount of jarring on the inside. My car makes a short noise when I start it and when it idles the engine makes a growling noise. I am trying to avoid taking it into the shop. If anyone could give me a list of common problems that would be great.
