Hi Ron:
It seems as though you have the same problem as most everyone that owns one of these. They are not hard to replace, but you need to be careful. First you need to support the rear of the truck on the frame not the axle. Remove the tires. At this point, I usually place a floor jack under the side of the axle that I plan to start with. I place it just so it's touching the axle, not lifting. At that point, all you do is unbolt the shackle and replace it. The hardest part is removing the bolts.
NOTE: Please make sure the truck is securely lifted on the frame. You don't want it to fall when you're working on it.
