I have a 1995 Ford Ranger, manual Trans. It has been stiff/hard to shift into 1st gear. No grinding, squeaks, or other noises. Is this the clutch, transmission, or other. What can I expect to pay for parts, and how much labor time? Thank you

Check the clutch slave resevoir make sure there is enough fluid in it. With it hard to put in first gear it sounds like the cluch plate is not going in all the way. It could be a worn cluch plate or the pressure plate or the throwout bearing. The price can varry on what you need.

Just to add to the previous answer.
Make sure you take care of this quick.
If the clutch is not releasing completely, The synchros in the trans are being excessivly worn because they are trying to stop the input shaft so that you can engage the trans.
If you let it go too long, you will wear out the syncros and have to have the trans rebuilt!
The syncros are "clutches" inside the trans that make the gears that your are trying to engage, spin at the same speed so they will not grind. They are NOT made to take the load of the shafts while they are being driven by the engine!
