Fixing front axel on a 79 4X4 Ford plow truck

The old axel broke in two and when we bought a new spindle the axel fits fine and is right make and model, but when trying to put it back on to truck it seems too long. Do we remove the u joint? Or is there a certain way to get the axel in place? Thank you.

Try turning it and shoveing it in till the spleenes line up, u may need a rubber mallet or deadblow hammeryou shouldnt need to take anymore ujoints outat this point good luck hope I helped
