Car screeching when I speed up

I have a ford fiesta la automatic 1993 and when I speed up it screeches and if I put my foot down it stops, its only when im going a slowish sort of speed like 10 - 20 mph, can someone tell me what could be causing this, I dont think its the brakes because its not when I use the brakes. Thank you
