Clutch pedal problem

I have a 2000 mustang GT with a 5-speed stick shift and 69,250 miles on it but the transmission has about 1,500 miles. Earlier today I was driving and went to shift and when I went to push the clutch pedal down I got it about half way then it made a load snapping noise and went the rest of the way to the floor with no tension at all and I was unable to shift out of gear. When I take my foot off the clutch it stays down and when I lift it back up it makes a bunch of little clicking noises and then when I try to push it down again it does the same loud snapping noise and wont shift out of gear. Any idea of how to fix this and if it is possible to do in my driveway?

There is internal damage. Could be the pressure plate, clutch plate, clutch fork or the throw out bearing. You can do it in your driveway but remember you will have to take out the transmission and the car has to be jacked up so you have room to work on it. My guess it sounds like the pressure plate. You say that the transmission only has 1500 miles on it. Did you put it in and was a new clutch installed the same time?
