I Have a 2005 v6 mustang and ass i was driving my car went into failsafe engine mode and the check engine light went out. I took the car to the dealer and they told me that the throttle body was bad and it was tripping the code for failsafe engine mode. Does anyone know if it can be fixed the dealer wanted to replace the throttle body sensor and motor. But i think it just needs either a motor or sensor becuase the actual throttle body itself is all mechanical.

I have had this problem recurring for about two years and over 40000 miles. At first it occurred rarely but when it became frequent I took it to the shop. The code indicated the throttle position sensor so I had that replaced - I think it is part of the gas pedal assembly. The problem immediately came back. Then I had the computer reprogrammed ('reflashed') and that helped for a number of months but then the problem started returning - slowly at first but again developing more frequently. Sorry, that is all I know at this time as I am getting ready to take my 2005 Mustang (6 cylinder, manual trans) to the shop again for a second try. Let me know if you have found anything out since you posted.
