We just replaced the power steering cylinder and power steering valve. We were told to to twist the wheel one way and then the other way to work the fluid thru and steering would resume to normal. Two problems are 1) when starting the car the steering wheel shakes rapidly back and forth and 2) the new oil in the power steering pump is now extremely hot and smoking. Do we look at replacing the pump or could we have received a bad cylinder or valve. HELP!

The pump belt should be tight, that may be the shaking problem. Or the valve is adjusted wrong. Were all the lines replaced correctly as well. You still could have air in the system as well.
