I have two gas tanks and it seems like the fuel pump is running although no fuel to start the motor I have switched to the other tank as the truck died on the free way it would and will not restart. One tank is 3/4 full the other 1/8 full should the pump ever stop making noise even when I switch to the other tank it sound like the pump never stops running. I have also noticed a leak sometimes when the tanks are full from the top of the tank.

Thanks, Pete

Hi yes the pump should build pressure for three seconds and shut off. If it is running all the time on both tanks then you have a low fuel pressure prob. Check the fuel pressure at the rail. Remove the vac hose at regulator and see if the hose has gas in it.. Most likely a bad regulator. Thanks billymac

I want to thank you for your help. I fixed the problem. The problem was no fuel in the front tank even though it showed 1/8 full I taped on the tank and it was empty. I guess you have to have some gas in both tanks for the other one to be used. Thanks, Pete
