Brakes problem
1978 Ford F250 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

'78 F250 4X4, Brakes were not stopping the vehicle very well, plus it would shake. I replaced the rear drums, shoes, and springs. I also replaced the front rotars and pads. The shaking went away, but it still doesn't stop worth a crap. I then jacked it up and it takes more power than it should to spin the front tires. The front tires spun more freely after I had replaced the brakes than they do now after I have driven it for a while. Do I need a new master cylinder or what is the deal?

Put it in the air, and have some one step on the brakes, do all wheels brake? Or are the rears or fronts able to be turned by hand? When was the last time any hydraulic was changed, and what part(s).

I just wanted to ad this also. First you say you lifted the vehicle so I figure you put larger tires on? If so then it takes alot ore power to turn the larger tires and it also takes alot more power on the brakes to stop it. Also if you have old rubber lines on the front then you can have hose rot or damge causing the front calipers to not fullyl release. I work in a 4x4 shop and you may have to upgrade the rotors and calipers to a heavier design before it actually brakes the way you want it. Hope this helps. Curt
