I have a 1991 Ford F-150 with over 250,000 miles on it. Obviously it has been a wonderfull truck for my family. Last summer i had a problem with it over-heating. I took it to a local mechanic who put a new thermostat in. It worked fine for a bout a year, before it started to overheat again, I took it one mechanic in my hometown, who put in a new thermostat. three weeks later, after overheating, i had to take it to a second mechanic who also put a new thermostat in. Now, about two months later, i've been informed by the second mechanic that i have a blown head gasket, and they can't fix my truck. First of all, what would the repairs like this normally cost? Second of all, should someone have thought of the head gasket before putting in two new thermostats, both of which i had to pay for?
